This console table is a top design from a great Plexiglas designer, charles Hollis Jones, USA. He is known for his use of acrylic and lucite. Life Born in Bloomington, Indiana in 1945. Jones moved to Los Angeles, California at the age of 16 to found CHJ Designs. Back then, acrylic and plastic were not often used as a material for luxury furniture and art, but Jones started making pieces for showrooms, such as Hudson-Rissman. His work was well received. Frank Sinatra, Lucille Ball and Johnny Carson were among the first to commission Jones to design pieces for their homes. An outdated Tennessee Williams commissioned Jones to design a writing chair: the result was the Wisteria chair. Jones made his award-winning Edison Lamp in the 1970s. Using original Thomas Edison lamps, Jones created a lamp with steel and lucite to show the inner workings of Edison’s original technology. It earned him the California Design 11 Competition and special recognition from the German government. His work has been featured in a number of museums, including the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena, California, 3 and the Los Angeles Times calling him a “pioneer in acrylic design.” Citation needed Jones resides at the Burbank in Los Angeles and still designs furniture and accessories.
